Some pictures of or by me; some of them are actually quite nice though I'm nobody's idea idea of a great photographer or photogenic subject...
During our January 2006 ski break to Seefeld in Austria, we came across this rather magnificent view with someone willing to take a picture for us...
The same break to Seefeld in Austria, I took this picture of Roos on our last big tour. Weather and skiing really were that good all week!
On a day's ski tour in the Cairngorms, introducing my friend Mark Fraser to the delights of free heels, and he took the picture.
Touring in Norway, starting at Finse, this is one of the various spots the Hardanger glacier spills down from its plateau. Photo by Lisa King.
At a week of track skiing in December 2004 on a Tayside Nordic Ski Club meet, trying to skate up a hill with a rucksack full of groceries, and demonstrating about nul points for good technique, but having fun anyway! Photo by Lisa King.
Here, our hero is topping out a prussik pitch somewhere underneath Yorkshire, and looking forwards to a chip butty and a pint of tea in Bernie's cafe. At least, that would explain the inane grin! I think my pal Norman Armstrong took this one, though it may have been my Dad.
This picture was taken by Cheryl Ford, who I'd just dragged up one of Scotland's finer peaks for her first Munro. As you can see, we had a splendid day with cloud inversions below to give us an excellent view, even if Cheri's legs were killing her the next day...
Just after I topped out the short end of the Inaccessible Pinnacle on Sgurr Daerg, Skye. The route's only a Diff, but I still managed to have an epic! Photo by Andy Murphy.
Popped over the Tarmachan ridge on the way to Skye as my friend Greg had some tops to tick and it was on the way... Photo by Mark Fraser.
A Brocken Spectre from the Aonach Eagach ridge of Glencoe, looking North(ish). Brocken spectres are formed when your shadow is cast onto mist or cloud, and are actually quite common when you know the conditions to look for. Photo by me (that's my shadow in the middle of the "glory").
A skyscape shot by me from the top of Mayar on a ski tour in January 2008, an absolutely glorious day and very much against the grain of ongoing deterioration in ski touring conditions year on year in Scotland
This was taken by fellow Tayside Nordic Ski Club member Mike Hill on the top of Mayar on the same day as the skyscape above was taken (I've just stepped away from my skis during a tea break, to get a splendid backdrop of the Southern Cairngorms).
This is me on my first recumbent bike, an Orbit Crystal. Sadly no more after an accident, but I've bought another 'bent since, 'cause they're an order of magnitude more comfortable than the more usual upright bikes, have better aerodynamics and the examples I've tried carry luggage better and have superior handling at speed. Photo by Lisa King.
This is my current tourer, an HP Velotechnik Streetmachine GT, parked in front of the world's tallest hedge at Meikleour, near Perth.
Here's my freight bike, a Burrows 8 Freight, and yes, that is a 2 seater sofa on the back, on its way to a new home. It's also transported a desk, fridges, microwave ovens, chairs and a lot of coal, groceries and garden waste that I'd previously used a car for. Photo by Roos Eisma.
Not the most practical cycle I own, but probably the most fun, is the Pashley Muni. Sign says it all, really, photo by Roos Eisma.
Roos succumbs to The Dark Side... this is her on her shiny new Nazca Fiero, and what can I say except they both look great!
Towards the end of a run at Dalguise in Perthshire run by the club I'm in, Tayside Orienteers, with me tracking down another control point on a Green (technically hard but not too long) route. Photo by Dave Prentice.
Somewhere on the West Coast of Scotland, that's my friend Stefan sitting in the sun next to our boats (mine, Nooka, is the orange one).
With Roos, my wife (then my girlfriend), on Mt. Cokely on Vancouver Island. Huge dollops of thanks to Richard Moe for taking us out for a wonderful day during a flying visit to Vancouver Island in November 2003, and an extra nod for taking this picture!
There are lots of pictures of our wedding available on our wedding pictures page.
